- First name (unless you wish to be anonymous)
- Location (city, state)
- Planting By Color group
- Short introductory paragraph
- Pictures of your garden (even if they are empty!)
- Picture of your garden plan. If you need help converting it from Excel to a .jpg format, you can email it to me and I’ll do it in Photoshop
- Questions you want answered

Kyoko–actually, most of Hawaii has no frost, so you can plant year round. However, I suggest finding local resources to tell you when it’s best to plant what things. My color system is really based on frost dates, and is not always applicable to very warm climates.
I know this is off topic, but I noticed the color code for Hawaii is extensive. I live on Kona side of Hawaii, and you have different color code for some islands. It may require a bit of investigating on my part, though I am wondering if you know a color code for Kailua- Kona.

I would like to be a guest contributor, but the website did not allow registration. This is my first year with SFG (although my tenth with vegetable gardening). I focused on companion planting in particular and am anxious to see how everything goes with the dense planting, especially with cantaloupes on a trellis. I have three 4X4′ and two 3X7′ boxes. I would like to share my garden plan. I’m in the LA area of Southern California. I expect to be adding a drip irrigation system soon (inspired by your article on same). My blog is mainly a cooking blog but I post a weekly garden update, and cook a lot of recipes using my harvests… take a look. I have just created an account on your site, my user name is domesticdame. I usually write up a garden update post every Tuesday so I should have a post written later this evening. I will shoot you an email when I’m done!! This is a wonderful idea… !!
Garlic goes in during the late fall, and grows all winter until late spring or early summer. I’d consider planting something with a short growing season–herbs would be fine–you have time to grow some basil. You could also plant carrots, beets, or beans. If you wait a little longer, you can plant for a fall harvest: peas, broccoli, more spinach, etc.
I am starting to pull up my spinach plants because they are starting to bolt and the warm weather is coming, I am wondering if you have any suggestions on what to plant in my empty squares. I was thinking about some garlic or some herbs…would those be good? Glad the strike is over…
