As for drip, I’ve done two things–small drip pipe with built-in emitters every 6″, spaced 6″ apart. Second is larger drip pipe that I put emitters into every 6″, spaced 12″ apart. Here is a link to my post that shows my irrigation: http://www.mysquarefootgarden.net/irrigation/

I prefer the drip pipe with built-in emitters. It seems to do a better job, probably because it’s spaced more closely. Next year I will add lines to my larger drip pipe so that it gets better coverage. What I found is that when you use Mel’s mix the water doesn’t spread as well as it would with real dirt. Sort of like watering sandy soil.

Hello,

Congrats on your baby boy!

I’m new to your site and new to SFG. I have a question about drip irrgation. I was thinking about 1/4″ drip line with 6″ emitters spacing. Running 2 lines per sqft. Do you think that’s enough water. There are so many thoughts out there with drip that it’s confusing me. Someone said that’s not enough and they used T-Tape with 3″ emitters. Please give me your thoughts. I live in Houston, TX.
