What about potatoes? Red and Sweet potatoes. Can seed potatoes be put in now? And should they have one square each?
Yes, potatoes actually went in two weeks ago, though it’s probably not too late. To read all about potatoes, go here.
I just found your site (don’t remember from where) and I’m hoping it will help me. Last year was my first year SFG or any on my own besides a window box and it stunk. But I’m optimistic.
So it’s okay to start these things even with the recent hail and it’s supposed to snow again this weekend?
It is okay to plant things like peas and onions. They are frost hardy, and will be fine by the time they poke above the soil. What I’ve decided to do is give my transplants an extra week or two. Nature is telling me that it’s a cool spring, and so I don’t want to risk freezing those little plants.
I just found your website late last week and subscribed to the newsletter. I’m new to square foot gardening and really to gardening in general. I know I’m late in getting started so I’m wondering if I can get the previous newsletters to see what I should already have planted? This has been such a helpful site–thanks so much!
Silly me, I just figured out how to look at other weeks. Once again–this is such a great site!
melissa..go for it, I am in the Blue Group and I have everything planted, I mean everything. Some i’m late on, some I am early on.But everything is growing great. I have not lost anything.
