2008 Garden, Third Week of May
In response to my killed tomatoes, I went and purchased more. Originally I had started from seed: Roma Better Boy Sweet 100 I planted a Sweet 100 and Better Boy in 1 square foot each, next to a trellis to vine it. I planted 2 Roma and 2 Better boy in 32 square feet total. I staggered them so they would each have roughly 9 square feet. 2008 Garden, Third Week of May
This week I was diligent about hardening off all my tomatoes and peppers. We had a really overcast day, so that’s when I planted. Little did I know that the next day there would be snow, huge winds, and destruction for my garden. Big boxes from our recycling pile blew on top of my tomatoes and snapped almost all of them. This is why it took me so long to post this–the whole thing was just too depressing. I also planted: Beets Cucumbers Carrots Bush Beans Pumpkins Dill
2008 Garden, Second Week of May
After seeing how well my onion sets did, while my starts totally failed, I planted 3 more squares of them. They may not get very big, but I’m hoping small is better than none!
