A few matters of business. . .

Complete this survey!

I’ve had many requests from those of you living in HOT climates (like Florida, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, California) or whose frost dates don’t fit into my color groups. I’m working on developing a planting schedule for you, but I NEED YOUR HELP! Please complete this SHORT SURVEY–it’s only 5 questions long! I am particularly hoping the Red and Orange groups will complete them, and anyone else who did could not find their frost date in my color table.

Tomato cages

I have not forgotten about the tomato cages! For those who live near me (Utah and Salt Lake Counties) and want to order tomato cages, here is your chance! Quantities are limited–first come, first served. So get them now! Pickup will be in Lehi on Monday May 24th from 8-11am, or 6-9pm. Please print your confirmation page and bring it with you as a receipt.

Personal update

So the bad news is, I’ve hardly had a week go by without hail and freezing temperatures. I guess that’s why they call it an AVERAGE frost date. This year is certainly not average! I’ll post a video for your viewing enjoyment. The good news is, I can open the window and make the bedroom nice and cool for my son who was throwing up all night long. I guess there’s a silver lining in these clouds.

Happy gardening!

We are getting similar weather in Colorado Springs. I jumped the gun on planting strawberries. Even though I had been covering them on freezing nights, they didn’t survive. Looks like maybe it’ll start getting warmer again.

So glad that people like the cages! Have you started building them yet? Everything working okay?

One question for you. My potoatoes have FINALLY started to come up. I was worried that they wouldn’t but with some warm weather they are breaking through. Now my question is how tall do I let the leaves grow before I cover them with more dirt? And how much dirt should I cover it with? Thanks again!

This year the weather is crazy. We live in NM in the High Desert Mountains
7600 feet. This morning it 38 degrees. May 8th I normally can plant the tomatoes, peppers, musk melons etc. not this year even with the walls of water just to cooled.

Thank you for providing the tomato cages. I am very excited to try them out and my hubby is VERY excited to NOT make them.

You do not know how diligently I have been watching your site waiting for you to post about the tomato cages. :) I can breathe easier now.
