The Joy (and PAIN) of Technology!
I apologize to all who have tried to access my website in the past two days. For some unknown reason, it kept loading slower and slower, until it would not load at all. I contacted my hosting company, and they explained it (my hosting account is very old, on old servers, and I will need to upgrade, which requires changing my database from 4.1 to 5.0, but there’s NO automated way to do so, instead backup, delete, restore, I decided NOT do to that but to set up a new hosting account and have been madly downloading and uploading for the past TWO days and nights), and hopefully it is finally resolved. I even delayed sending out my newsletters, but apparently I did not delay long enough!
You can imagine my frustration! After sharing a few choice words (with myself, in my head), I recruited my husband’s help, and he got me going in the right direction (by doing all the same things I had just done, but somehow magically they work for him). Then this morning while I waited for the cyber universe to reconnect to my blog, I went straight to the garden and turned the dirt, added compost, and patched up my irrigation system. Instead of screaming back pain and a headache, my muscles heated up and stretched out. I feel better. So much better I can face the piles of work in my inbox. Every blogger needs a garden.
Updates and pictures of my garden coming soon!
I totally relate to the technological frustrations! I’m using a new wordpress theme to get my site up and running, after running in endless circles with the last theme. (I’m a graphic designer, who needs to show off her portfolio.) I definitely prefer the gardening part of my life, too. We’ll see if my new site gets up and running with a gardening blog section, or if I want to keep that part of my life super low-tech. Just waiting for Spring to really arrive. I hear we have a few days of snow coming, but my windowsills are full with seedlings!
Sorry to hear that about the site, though glad that it is all up and running again. Those weeds probabily didn’t have a chance against the frustration. 🙂
BTW What were some of the technical details?
I too believe in horticulture therapy! Good luck with everything!
