Please welcome Vanessa, our guest blogger of the week!
Over night the Jalapeno plant grew all sorts of peppers. The one in the front was growing last week but the other four just sprouted out of no where. You wouldn’t know it from the pictures but this plant is still a tiny little guy and has only grown to about 8 or 9 inches tall but that isn’t stopping it from giving me some yummy looking peppers.
The cucumber plants are getting so big… I found about 20 of these little guys all over the trellis. I planted three more cucumber plants about a month after this one so we should be harvesting cucumbers for a long time! Mmmm I love cucumbers!
We harvested about 5 strawberries off one plants and the other strawberry plant is beginning to show some new strawberries as well!!
And last but certainly not least… the harvest! I harvested 5 strawberries, the last of the radishes, tons of Mustard Greens and Spinach (the last of both plants!) You wouldn’t know it by the picture but that pile of mustard greens was so high it filled up 3 large ziplock bags after I washed and chopped it! Yummy!!
On another note… my tomato plants are getting huge (still no tomatoes yet) but something seems to be eating them. Quite a few of the leaves are starting to show yellow blotches, I thought it was blight however after further inspection I noticed the basil had the same spots and holes. I moved all the plants off the grass on to the concrete on other side of the yard, I’ve been trying to keep a watch-full eye out to make sure the dog doesn’t eat them, yesterday I caught her digging in to the pot trying to bury her raw hide in the pot… we’ll see how long it is before she destroys them.
Hi what soil did you use for the strawberries and cucumbers?and how often do you water them and such?
Thank you! I have a 6×6 raised bed that we built when we moved in to this house. The area that the bed is in is very small so there is limited space. I also grow my tomatoes, peppers, strawberries and herbs all out of containers.
Vanessa, your plants look great! Do you grow all of them in containers? I’m envious that you were still able to get a harvest out of your greens (even if they were the last). It’s been more than a month since my spinach and lettuce started bolting.
